Health Prevention and Promotion Active living is healthy living Physical activity is one of the best things you can do for your body. Some of the benefits you can look forward to when you exercise includes lowering blood pressure, improving cholesterol, and increasing energy and stamina. Through Mosaic Primary Care Network’s (MPCN) free Active Adults Program, adults can attend Max Bell Centre, Marlborough Mall, and Genesis Centre in Calgary for indoor walking, weekly exercise classes, access to health checks, and speak with a dietitian. “People get active and before they know it, they’re feeling better.” High blood pressure is one of the top health conditions in the MPCN area and is a key risk factor for heart disease. Over the past two years, 2,000 people have signed in and attended the Active Adults Program over 65,000 times. Participants in the Active Adults Program at Genesis Centre have shown a decrease in their blood pressure over time, proving that consistent exercise can save lives! When you begin with small positive changes in your physical activity, you reduce cardiovascular risk factors, improve your heart health, and build the foundation for a healthier life. — Jackie, Kinesiologist Learn more and locate your closest Active Adults Program at www.mosaicpcn.ca.
