Royalton ’ s Platte River Day , something for everyone
Royalton welcomes everyone to enjoy the fun and games at Platte River Day , Saturday , July 29 . Platte River Day is sponsored by the Royalton Lions Club and runs from 8:30 a . m . until midnight .
The event kicks off with the annual Platte River 5K Run / Walk at 8:30 a . m .
Get ready to see the popular Platte River Day Parade at 11 a . m . The parade route begins at Royalton High School and makes its way through town , ending at Holy Trinity Church .
The food court and beer garden open at 11 a . m . The food court offers variety of food , including cheeseburgers , brats , hot dogs , french fries , mini doughnuts , ice cream , popcorn and much more .
A silent and a live auction start at 12:30 p . m ., which includes unique items donated by Lions members and area businesses .
From 2 p . m . – 5 p . m ., the Royalton American Legion will be hosting the Platte River Day Car Show . Registration begins at noon and there are multiple vehicle trophy classes . Trophies will be awarded at 4:30 p . m . A shuttle will be available to transport people from downtown Royalton to the Car Show .
Kids can bring their teddy bears , because at 2 p . m . on the main stage , the Teddy Bear Band will perform for kids of all ages . The Teddy Bear Band is sponsored by the Great River Regional Library – Royalton , a Legacy event .
The rest of the afternoon is filled with a wide variety of activities including minnow races , Cub / Boy Scout
kids ’ games , petting zoo and an egg toss . Happy Hour begins at 5 p . m . and includes a dinner and drink specials . The cash-only raffle drawing starts at 5:30 p . m ., with one lucky person taking home $ 5,000 .
The street dance kicks off at 8 p . m . with free , live music from “ The Fabulous Armadillos .”
