Bonnie and Clyde would have loved this event , complete with an old ‘ 55 Oldsmobile and photographs of them adorning the walls of the Morgan Hill Community Center for an evening of fun and recognition . The evening included a hosted reception with wines donated by Clos LaChance , food by Mama Mia ’ s Italian Restaurant , and a silent auction which boosted considerable community support and raised over $ 12,000 .
Public Safety Awards were presented to Marc Darnell , Mike Klysqeiko and Steve Balbo for their work with the Volunteers In Policing ( VIP ’ s ) program . The VIP ’ s support local police and public safety efforts .
Over 230 people attended the event .
SVEADAL MIDSUMMER CELEBRATION
Presented by the Swedish American Patriotic League
Tucked away at the base of the foothills in Uvas Canyon , at an elevation of 1,000 feet , is a lovely retreat named Sveadal . Since 1968 , Sveadal has been the location for the Swedish American Patriotic Leagues ’ Midsummer Festival , which is celebrating its 119th consecutive year in the Bay Area .
The day-long event is attended by about 1,000 people of Swedish descent from all over the Bay Area . Activities throughout the day include the raising of the Maypole , entertainment , dancing , swimming , tennis , hiking , tours , a parade , BBQ , dinner and dancing under the stars .
The event is part of the Swedish and American cultural legacy preserved for the enjoyment and education of their children .
