EXTENDING EXTENDING AN OUTSTANDING LEVEL OF CARE TO STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THEIR EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY The decision to return to the rigors of academia can be exciting—and daunting. Defining goals and needs, both professional and personal, is essential to the successful pursuit of a graduate nursing degree. Almost all potential graduate students are or have been practicing nurses, and must weigh many considerations. Academic Advisor Nikki O’Brien, MSW, and the Office of Student Support Services are passionate about student success, both academic and personal. Delivering relationship-oriented, 48 resource driven support is the cornerstone of O’Brien’s philosophy from recruitment to graduation and beyond. It begins by meeting with prospective students at three to four open houses a year or arranging phone, skype, and in-person appointments, as well as meetings with faculty. This highly responsive and personal introduction to the College reflects the kind of support each student will receive throughout their program.
