MORE Magazine : What are the downsides of being a woman in ministry ?
Reverend Cee Cee : The downside would be the frustration . People think that I am ‘ Reverend Cee Cee ’ because of who my husband is . They don ’ t realize that I was ordained 3 years before him .
There are still many that do not embrace female preachers . There was one time that my husband had an engagement to preach . He was unable to make it and asked for another preacher , a man , to go on his behalf . It happened that my husband ’ s replacement also could not make the engagement , so I went to represent my husband .
The Pastor of the church was not comfortable with me preaching . He agreed , but continued to ask me if I could ‘ handle it ’. It got to the point where I had to put my foot down . ‘ I ’ m here to preach , Period .’ I went on to give the Word and the glory of God was in the place . There was deliverance in that service . Afterwards , the pastor had to acknowledge my gift and calling .
The pastor has to embrace women in ministry in order , or else the woman won ’ t get the same training men are given . Female ministers need to be educated and empowered . I was able to handle my situations because my pastor , Dr . Lance Watson , prepared me on how to handle opposition . Women have to know how not to let their emotions get in the way of the assignment . For Women in Ministry – be your own relevant voice .
MORE Mag : Tell us a little about your church ? How do they embrace you being a woman in ministry ?
Reverend Cee Cee : My church is very progressive . When they brought on my husband to be pastor , they knew ahead of time that they were getting a package deal .
After hearing me preach , the church voted me in as the Assistant Pastor . Never in the history of the church had an assistant pastor been voted into the position . It was an affirmation of my ministry . This is a well established church .
