WITHIN MY
ORDERED STEPS...
PATH TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP
March of 2013, I sat at my computer thinking of
where I could get some money from and or how
I’d be able to make more money in my spare
time. I worked on my résumé’s format making it
appear as neat as possible. There were so many
financial obligations I was attached to but had
not the money to meet most of them. I’d placed
flyers before offering my cleaning services, my
driving services and or my companion to the
elderly services yet nothing panned out that
would lead me to extra income, therefore the bills
kept rolling in on me. I found myself staring at my
computer screen that displayed my résumé, and
at the same time mentally gasping for air
because of my mounting debt.

In the year of 2012, I’d taken a free computer course, and for the first time in my life paid attention and
focused on learning to type, and to use the Microsoft Word program. During this free course, I'd fallen
in love with Microsoft word and the numerous ways to use it. I have yet to master the entire Microsoft
suite, but word and its functions has had me entranced since my introduction to it. While opening my
pile of bills in March of 2013, I racked my brain in desperation trying to figure out ways to use my
Microsoft word skills to earn myself an extra income.
I turned back and offered my community free computer services.I posted my flyers within homeless
shelters, churches and community outreach programs offering my assistance. I felt that by sitting with
people and assisting them with their computer applications for employment and or formatting their
résumé’s it would lead to them having better qualities of life. It pained me then to realize, as it pains
me now to remember and share with you that little to no people called for assistance. I imagined
someone removed my posted flyers from their placements. I, made more copies then set out to go
and replace them within the mentioned locations. To my surprise, that led me into a dismay, I found
the flyers I’d originally placed still tacked and taped to their spaces I’d first put them.
