Mais le secteur agroalimentaire du Québec touche à tout : du cidre , de la bière , du pain et des pâtes , en passant par les collations , les sucreries , la viande et même la nourriture de vos animaux de compagnie favoris .
L ’ industrie est non seulement diversifiée , mais elle est aussi fraîche et locale , pour les Québécois , par des Québécois . Et c ’ est une excellente nouvelle pour la santé de votre famille et la santé de notre économie en général . Selon Investissement Québec , l ’ industrie agroalimentaire contribue de façon importante à l ’ économie du Québec avec près de 65 000 employés . En 2014 , les exportations s ’ élevaient à sept milliards de dollars , une hausse de 15 pour cent en comparaison avec 2013 , et dans son ensemble , l ’ industrie génère sept pour cent du PNB de la province .
Mais ce n ’ est pas qu ’ un phénomène à l ’ échelle provinciale . Le secteur agroalimentaire est maintenant l ’ industrie manufacturière la plus importante au Canada en matière de ventes , selon un rapport du Globe and Mail paru en 2015 . But this is not just a provincial phenomenon . The agrifood sector is now Canada ’ s largest manufacturing industry in sales , according to a 2015 Globe and Mail report . Those sales set a record in 2014 at $ 80-billion . That ’ s more than textiles , paper , machinery and aerospace combined . “ Even during the recession , as most other sectors slumped , food sales kept growing .”
Looking ahead , as food prices rise , both Canada and Quebec could become world leaders in this diverse field . Both country and province have the raw materials , research facilities and abundant water supplies . A multicultural , well-educated population and trusted brand name also give our industry an edge .
Closer to home , Quebec ’ s agri-food industry has earned a reputation for its stability , with an average annual growth of one percent . The Conseil de la transformation alimentaire du Québec says food processing is the largest manufacturing sector in Quebec , and nearly 70 percent of the province ’ s agricultural production relies on the industry as its main commercial outlet . Now consider that in Quebec one in eight workers are employed by the food industry , and you begin to see how Quebec-made purchases contribute to the wellbeing of many families .
