Duration of program: 750 hours (25 weeks)

FOR AUXILIARY NURSES
Duration of program: 570 hours (19 weeks)
Requires referral from the OIIAQ
In a home setting, learn how to
▪ provide basic care and services to persons of all ages
who are sick or who have physical or mental disabilities;
▪ help clients carry out their everyday activities;
▪ ensure clients’ safety and intervene in crisis or
emergency situations;
▪ Assist in documenting specific care plans, medications
and basic invasive procedures.
Among the many patient care-related tasks, students
▪ gain an understanding of theory and practice with
regards to biological systems; nervous, urinary,
digestive, reproductive and endocrine;
▪ practise nursing interventions in health centre settings
(47% of the program).
Students gain skills and knowledge to
▪ provide basic care and assistance services to patients
in health facilities (long and short-term care);
▪ assist with activities of daily living within a health
establishment or living environment.
For students who hold a licence (LPN) and have not
practised the profession for four years or more, or
international students holding a diploma in a
health care profession. Students will
▪ upgrade knowledge and practical skills to meet current
health demands.
