Le site Glen du CUSM , c ’ est 12 500 locaux , 58 ascenseurs , 34 272 luminaires et 238 000 m3 de béton . Et pour ériger cet imposant édifice , il a fallu 1 000 000 heures de conception , 10 000 000 heures de construction , 12 000 travailleurs , 125 architectes et 125 ingénieurs , et 6 000 dessins d ’ ingénierie .
Ces chiffres parlent d ’ eux-mêmes . Bâtir un hôpital de cette envergure est un défi architectural de taille , en raison des multiples contraintes techniques , économiques et environnementales , et des normes à respecter pour assurer la sécurité des patients .
C ’ est le 17 juin 2010 que le Groupe immobilier santé McGill ( GISM ), partenaire privé responsable de la conception , de la construction , de l ’ entretien et du financement du projet , a donné le coup d ’ envoi à l ’ édification du site Glen . Les premiers patients y ont été accueillis au printemps 2015 .
A colossal design and construction project
The Glen site comprises 12,500 rooms , 58 elevators , 34,272 lighting fixtures and 238,000 m3 of concrete . It took one million hours of design work , 10 million hours of construction , 12,000 workers , 125 architects , 125 engineers , and 6,000 engineering drawings to build the project .
The numbers speak for themselves . Building a hospital of this size is a major architectural challenge due to the many technical , economic and environmental constraints as well as standards required to ensure patient safety .
The Groupe immobilier santé McGill ( GISM ), a private partner responsible for the design , construction , maintenance and financing of the project , kicked off construction of the Glen site on June 17 , 2010 . The first patients were welcomed in the spring of 2015 .
