Curatorial Experience

Have you ever wondered what happens to archaeological artifacts after
excavation? Would you like to find out what goes into the creation of a
museum exhibition? Would you like to know what happens to artifacts that
do not go on display? Join our archaeology staff to find out everything
you’ve ever wanted to know about the curatorial process!
We will begin our curatorial
exploration with an artifact handling
session in our Archaeology Laboratory,
where you will touch (and be able to
photograph!) the 18 and 19 century
material culture in our Study Collection.

Our Curator of Archaeological
Collections, Dr. Mary Furlong Minkoff,
will then lead you on an exclusive
Archaeology Walking Tour. During the
tour, you will
visit our
active
archaeology
site—the Pine
Alley—and
learn about
our excavation processes. You will also
have a sneak peek at our newly
constructed North Dwelling, and learn
