Let ’ s Chalk : Coloring the town

Let ’ s Chalk is Monticello ’ s newest two-day street art festival with entertainment , food , and family fun ! This free event will be held in September in 2023 .
Let ’ s Chalk features will bright , bold and even 3D art from chalk art professionals and amateurs from across the United States who join together in allowing spectators to watch chalk art masterpieces take shape right before their eyes .
In 2022 , its estimated that more than 10,000 people headed to Walnut Street in downtown Monticello to see the art projects created by about 20 profession and 15 amateur artists .

Riverfest : Showcasing Monticello

There are big changes in
store for Riverfest in 2023 .
The annual celebration of
Monticello is moving to a
three-day festival after traditionally
being a four-day
event .
If you want to see the
best Monticello has to offer
, the 46th Annual Riverfest
is the place to start .
The three-day celebration
of summer , community ,
food , and people is scheduled
to be held from July
14 to July 16 in 2023 .
The celebration kicks
off on Friday , July 14 ,
with the community celebration
in Pioneer Park .
There will be activities
for all ages , including a
car show , petting zoo ,
fun and games , food concessions
, root beer floats ,
sno-cones ,
pony
rides ,
kids building clinic , and
the Community leaders
pie eating contest .
Also on Friday in 2023
will be the community-wide
art , some enjoyed guessing at what the finished
talent show in
drawings would be . A 3-D chameleon ?

Before Christmas ? Jamie Lee Curtis from the movie Halloween ? A pair of Monticello swans , perhaps ? The only way to know for sure was to ask , keep watching the artists , or take a peek at
School auditorium . Auditions are typically held in mid-June . Following the talent show is the annual Riverfest fireworks

Along with seeing the chalk art come to life , festival participants can enjoy food and beverages from local businesses and civic organizations , listen to local musicians .
