NURSERY SCHOOL

Following months of planning and preparation on the part of the Parents Association, the Nursery School enjoyed a wonderful night of fun and festivities as we gathered to celebrate together and honor Elaine and Robert Witkoff. We had a wonderful turnout of Nursery School parents and teachers, our clergy Rabbi Gelber and Cantor Halev, Habonim Synagogue President Richard Verner, Board members, and other members of the Habonim community. We toasted Elaine and Robert, reflected on their many contributions to the Nursery School and synagogue community, enjoyed delicious light fare, chatted with friends, bid on great silent auction items, and raised additional funds to support the Nursery School’s many initiatives. Special thanks to all of our parents who gave so generously of their time, in particular–Missy Kvitko, Jessica Floman, and Rachel Stein, all of whose efforts contributed greatly to the evening's success.

February was also the month in which we completed all of our admissions visits. It was very helpful to prospective parents to have the opportunity to speak with current parents during the one-on-one interview process, allowing them to experience, on a personal level, the warm and welcoming community here at Habonim that embraces our children and the entire family! For our final event of this admissions season, we will be hosting an Open House for parents of children accepted to our school for the coming year. Many thanks to all our parents who have enriched this process with their involvement, and particularly to Melissa Paretsky, who has organized all of our parent admissions volunteers during the school year.

We are delighted with the success of our Early Explorers and Toddler Programs for our youngest learners and happy to report that we will be offering it again for the 2019/20 school year beginning in September. Please email Associate Director, Ann Obsatz, for more information at aobsatz@habonim.net.

We are beginning preparations for Purim! Get ready for groggers, noisemakers, lots of jesters, Queen Esthers, and other festive costumes, culminating in the family reading of the Megillah. Looking forward to celebrating our deliverance from the evil King Haman, by playing games, eating hamentaschen, and rejoicing in our children and community.

Warmly,

Tina Lobel
