IN EVERY ROOM, HINTS OF THE HOLIDAYS
Above, the living room is used by all the Laceys, as is every room in the house. Top right, the kitchen leads to a sunken living area
that serves as a family room. The tree is a “Charlie Brown” tree that the kids are free to festoon with homemade decorations and
other items. They made the gluten-free gingerbread house in the center of the table using a kit. The snowman and deer figurines on
the mantle are gifts from Wendy’s mother. At right, the moose and camel nativity sets are souvenirs of the family’s prodigious travels,
in this case to Wyoming (with the kids) and Israel (parents only), respectively. “With every trip, we try to bring home a nativity set
and/or a snow globe,” says Lacey. “We have others from Brazil, where we have family.” As many as 20 to 24 Brazilian relatives visit
for Thanksgiving, she says, using sleeping bags wherever necessary. ➤
