Theater is a tradition on the East End with companies large and smaller offering plays new and familiar . None compares to the schedule and profession caliber of our very own BAY STREET THE- ATER 631-725-9500 . Each summer they offer three major works on the Sag Harbor stage to amuse , entertain and surprise . This year they added a bonus fourth production to make 2018 one for the books ! Currently they offer the world premier of “ Fellow Travelers ”. This dramatic work focuses on the real-life friendship and passion that existed between three of the most prominent names in 1950 ’ s American art . Playwright Arthur Miller , his wife Marilyn Monroe and famed director Elia Kazan . Caught in the midst of the infamous McCarthy era they took very different routes to maintain their integrity and soul , paths that did not converge . Showing now through June 17 expect fireworks well before the actual fourth !

June 26-July 22 continues the dramatic look into
America ’ s soul with a timely revival of “ Frost / Nixon ”. Based on the actual interviews David Frost held with Richard Nixon after his inglorious departure from office these intense moments reveal Nixon for the man he really was - cold , indifferent , implacable and deserving of history ’ s scorn . On another political note , “ Evita ” comes to Sag Harbor from July 31-August 26 . The award-winning Broadway musical from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice is filled with memorable songs , charismatic characters and great dance numbers .
The bonus performance this summer is the premier of a new work slated for a 2019 Off Broadway opening . “ Confessions of a Mormon Boy ” is the first of the planned “ Mormon Boy Trilogy ” that examines the life of a perfectly raised young man whose life takes a U- turn into personal hell and back again . Directed by Bay Street ’ s artistic director Scott Schwartz , this limited run of this musical will be July 17-22 and tickets are very limited .

Narrated by filmmaker Sam Green with live score by Yo La Tengo learn how this utopian visionary / architect helped shape the modern view of life and living in it .
On June 22 Philippe Petit , the daredevil aerialist best known for walking the Twin Towers , spends an evening spinning his captivating life ’ s story . June 24 sees “ This World Itself & Myth and Infrastructure ”, a spectacular live performance by Miwa Matreyek . Combining projected animation and th4e artist ’ s own shadow Miwa interacts with the fantastical worlds she has created in her award-winning videos .
In the summer to come enjoy equally enthralling evenings with artists as diverse as Bruce Willis , Alec Baldwin , David Sedaris , and Sarah Koening as they explore aspects of the performing , visual and social arts . Add to that a series of live readings of works by Harold Pinter , Drama Desk Award winner Eugene Peck and up-and-coming Michael Marrero and the John Drew Theater ‘ s 2018 summer series is sure to be a sizzler as usual .

If you love classic show tunes you have to pencil in June 29-July for the 11th annual “ Bravo to Broadway ”. Held at the SOUTHAMPTON CULTURAL CENTER in the center of that village , this evening features the best-loved songs from “ Kiss Me Kate ”, “ Chorus Line ”, “ The Lion King ”, “ Wicked ”, “ West Side Story ”, “ Hello Dolly ” and many , many more . Performed by a local troupe of outstanding singers and performers tickets are $ 45-55 and include light-refreshment and drinks .
