MONTAUK MUSIC O ne of the prime reasons Montauk has become such a popular destination is the variety of live music here. As you’ll read many a Montauk room rings with rock, pop, jazz and even a touch of “oom-pa-pa” sounds through the summer night. So, if you are looking to pound a beat here are the folks you want to find.   CHAMBER CONCERTS Every month this summer the local Chamber of Com- merce hosts a series of free outdoors concerts on the Main Street village green. Held every Monday from 6:30 - 8:30 we kick off this month on July 2nd with the alter- native rock of THE REALM. On the 9th one of the East End’s favorite rock and country bands, GENE CASEY AND THE LONE SHARKS hit the Green. The LYNN BLUE BAND puts out classic covers of your favorite tunes on the 16th while the following week RAY RED is a one-man more than worth the wait. Finally some- thing new for Montauk POTTER TEKULSKY takes the classic country tunes of the 1940 & 50’s and given them a modern spin. That ranges from MANNY SPRINGER and his after- noon dose of authentic reggae to the rocking sound of LITTLE SISTER AND ABBY LANE. From original tunes from JOSH BRUSSEL and CHELSEA TAKAMI to the Catch the rocking Lynn Blue Band at West Lake Fish House and the MTK Chamber Concerts this month. best classic pop and rock tunes from the past 30 years by TOM WARDLE and HI FACINATION there’s always something live and lively at the Gig. Performing on stage at the eastern edge of the lawn this month’s schedule begins July 8 with the hardest working women in local rock and roll, when the NANCY ATLAS PROJ- ECT turns up the heat. On the 15th its country and rock with RANDY JACKSON. On the 22nd welcome the re- tuen of last year’s hit, the ZANTI MISSFITS when they go all New Orleans funk on us all. We end this first month with a new act that’ll get you up and dancing. CARRIE AND THE CATS make their first stop on stage July 29th.
