thermore, like the name “Xtra”
cab implies, you get some generous added space behind the
front seats with some storage
holders as well.
Although this Hilux boasts the
same ground clearance as it’s
4x4 stablemate, it only comes
driven via the rear wheels. A rear
diff-lock does however ensure
that this Hilux could still conquer
some really rough terrain with
ease.
Inside the Hilux, like most pickups these days, the cabin appears almost car-like. Although
the current Hilux has been on
the market for some time now,
the dashboard and instruments
are still quite modern due to the
various face-lifts and updates
Toyota has given the Hilux over
the last few years.
are very high, but due to our Hilux
being fitted with a tow-bar, rubberized load area and a canopy
you do get some extra value.
Standard features included a radio with CD-player with a touch
screen, bluetooth phone connectivity, USB and ipod connection, a rear park camera, air-conditioning and a multi-function
steering wheel.
Overall the vehicle was in a very
good condition, as you would
expect from a Hilux with only 23
600km on the clock. Our Hilux on
test also came fitted with four
brand new Bridgestone Dueller
tyres.
In “Legend 45” form Toyota has
added black leather upholstery,
a leather clad gear lever, sporty
alloys, a front nudge bar, roll-bar
and side-steps.
As a used car buy you can never
go wrong with a Hilux as it’s probably South Africa’s most trusted
vehicle. While I am pretty sure it
will probably last for as long as
you care to keep it, too.
As you would see from the used car
price the residuals on Hilux models
