GET INVOLVED!

By now, you have heard repeatedly the words “GET INVOLVED.” There are many opportunities that it can be overwhelming.

Here are 3 quick tips on finding your niche.

Christa Coffey, Ed.D.

Director of Student Activities

Tip 3: If you cannot find what you are looking for, contact Student Activities to set up a 1-on-1 Involvement Advising session, during which we walk through opportunities based on your interests. From community service to live music to movies to sports (both recreational and competitive) to adventure trips and more, there is something for you!

Tip 2: If you do not have time to get involved in student orgs, the next best thing to do is attend events. Between student organizations and university-planned events, there is something happening on campus almost every day. There are a number of calendars provided by campus entities, including UNT, Student Activities, and UPC, the latter of which prints a hard copy calendar each semester. Most on-campus activities are free for students.

Tip 1: I encourage students to begin their collegiate involvement by getting involved in 2 student organizations: one related to your major and the other for fun (related to a hobby or interest). We have over 400 student organizations, which you can search by key word or category (e.g., investing, creative and performing arts, religious/spiritual, social/political awareness) in our database.
