Children’s view on Education
The perfect school – in the view of Victor, age 10 and
Ioana, age 4
As part of our series “Children on Education”, we asked
ISA lecturer Maria to interview her two children on
their view of the perfect school.
Maria: What would the perfect school look like to you ?
Victor: In this school all the students, from first grade
of primary school to the last grade of high school,
would play together.
Maria: And how would they learn?
Victor: The answer is in front of you: by playing, of
course. And I would give you an example: Let’s say
that they learn math. They would start a game and I
would call it “On rocks”. This is how it goes: One kid
thinks of a number and the other one is the little Frog.
The little Frog has 3 tries in guessing the number and
it receives logic tips from the first child as: my no is
“ab” if you add 34 and take 3, it equals 48. And the
little Frog when he guesses could jump of happiness,
or open a book at the page number that he guessed
and then they read together.
See, they learn math, they do sport and also read
and all by playing.
Victor, 10 years old (speaks 3 languages and plays
piano)
Ioana: All I want to do is playing. I could go all day
playing. All the activities are done by playing and I am
happy. And I learn like this, it is easy.
Ioana, 4 years old (attends ballet classes, paints and
taught herself to sing from videoclips on you-tube)
