Indeed , the process of remembering can be disturbed in a global way , but never a single memory trace of any particular experience is lost while everything that can be remembered is retained . These phenomena led us to think that the sensorial input is disseminated and produces a distributed memory .
The holographic model explains this mechanism , which is based on the fact that the notion with which consciousness works is not stored in any special place but rather throughout the brain or in large areas of consciousness , and whenever the information is used , a selection is made picking it from everywhere . The memory is stored in rings of circuits that spin between certain cells , leaving a kind of plastic deformation of the brain , so that when these energies are returned to these rings , a pattern similar to the one that produced them is evoked .
It says then that the thread was “ wrapped ” just like “ the egg in the cake .” You cannot unfold the egg of the cake , but in this case the thread can be unfolded , by slowly rotating the cylinders , to the original position because there is no diffusion . Now let us think of several droplets , each distributed on the glycerin by different number of turns namely : n times , and then another 2n times and a third 3n times , and so on , each one of them is distributed in the whole but they interpenetrate each other . When we turn the machine backwards , if it is done at a sufficient speed so that it exceeds the resolution of the human eye , we will successively unroll each other so that our senses will interpret as a true image the sequence of positions of the different droplets , as if all of them were the same drop in different positions . This is what Bohm calls holomovement . This description is essentially different from Cartesian .
If our brain resembled a camera , the record of an object would be focused on a single cell . However , the object is analyzed in many different respects , and each of them produces a plastic deformation throughout the brain . To recover it , this information must also be collected from the whole brain .
In this sense , the brain behaves like a hologram , where each of its parts contains information about the whole image . The characteristic of the hologram is that if you illuminate a part of it you get information of the complete image , but less detailed and from fewer angles . The same is true for the brain .
The holographic structure of the universe
In the Cartesian order , the bodies are separated from each other and only contain relations of contiguity between them . The continuous field of the theory of relativity ( Einstein ) is still the Cartesian model , since all connections are contiguous , i . e . the field connects only with elements of field very close to it , both in space and time ; that is , it has no direct connection to distant elements . This is not so in the pleated order .
To explain the folded order , Bohm uses an apparatus consisting of two concentric glass cylinders , with a very viscous liquid , for example glycerin , between them . If a droplet of insoluble ink is poured into that liquid and the cylinders are slowly turned , the droplet will be absorbed into an invisible strand . If they return to their previous position , it will suddenly become visible again .
In the Cartesian description , the particle exists and its essence moves in space and time . In the holographic model , it is the whole that manifests itself , since the particle is the whole , and it manifests itself in a way that can be perceived by the human being as it is structured , when it transcends the threshold of our perception . That is to say that all the folded order cannot be manifested , but only some aspect of it . When this folded order is brought to the manifesting aspect , we have a perception .
According to Bohm , the holographic model differs from the previous ones , and it does not always connect with the whole as the field theory does , but also that the connections of the whole have nothing to do with the locality in space and time , but with a totally different quality called folding . Their relationships have to do with the degree of involvement , and not with space and time .
Combining the ideas of Pribram and Bohm we can say that : Our brains construct mathematically the concrete reality when interpreting frequencies of another dimension , a sphere of significant primary reality , patterned , that transcends space and time .
The brain is a hologram that interprets a holographic universe
