MY THOUGHTS ON

by Heather Caserta

Within: Making Peace with Food and Body Image to Create a Healthy Family and Home b:y Karen Diaz, RD

LWRMG Member Karen Diaz, RD, just published her first book, and it's not only well-written and an easy read, it has an important message.

This book read like I was sitting with her, sipping on hot tea, talking about the body image issues we struggle with as women, wondering "how can I make sure my children don't have those issues too?" She offers actionable steps to help both you and your family make food "neutral" - neither good nor bad - and a positive experience. I highly recommend this book if you have ever struggled with body image and feel shame about your body and the food you eat. You'll learn how to reframe your own thinking so that you and your children see food in a healthy way. This book is especially timely with the holidays coming. The parties and rich foods tend to derail our eating habits and how we speak about food and ourselves ("I ate so bad last night!"), then the new year brings myriad diets and exercise routines ("I'm being good today!"). Give it a read and learn how you can help yourself and your family!
