Winter SkinCare

Believe it or not, it’s actually Winter!

I know our days vary from hot to cold in a flash, so we go from air conditioning to putting on the heat. This can be so drying and damaging to our face and body.

It is important to continuously exfoliate and hydrate our skin during this time of year. Here are a couple of easy, at home, regimens you can do yourself.

For your face and your body, you can exfoliate every other day. Make sure you use appropriate products for specific body parts. Use only products that are specified for facial skincare for your face, neck and upper chest. If you use an exfoliator that is designed for the body, it may be too harsh and can cause damage to that area of more sensitive skin. After you exfoliate your face, make sure you hydrate it with a non-oil based moisturizer along with vitamins made specifically for your face. Some products that I recommend for my clients to help achieve a great exfoliation at home are AHA Cleanser, Exfoliator, Vitamin A and Perfect Face. All of these products are made by Sugoi. We have been using the Sugoi line for almost 17 years, not just in our treatment rooms but in our household as well.

Exfoliation for arms, back, abdomen, butt and legs can start by using a dry body brush, always using an upward brushing motion. Once in the shower, wet your body, apply a body exfoliator and massage in a semi-circular motion, always trying to go upwards. After the exfoliator is thoroughly rinsed off and you are dry, apply a great hydrating lotion.

I hope these suggestions help make your skin vibrant and smooth through this dryer weather we’ve been having.

McKinley is doing really great. She's loving school, LOVING dance & enjoying being off chemo meds. It really is amazing how much she's grown, how much she's developed & how much more personality she has since she's stopped chemo. All things are looking great which is wonderful news. We've been very busy with advocating & promoting childhood cancer awareness month & attending a lot of events. We did have one scare at this months appointment but all was confirmed negative with an ultrasound. Myself, a few other "cancer moms" & McKinleys oncologist were all concerned about a vein by where her port was placed especially since she had a clot in the past. But all was confirmed ok with a quick ultrasound (Thank God). I'm not sure I'll ever be able to take a deep breath but I do try too. We are praying for a Halloween at home this year (last year we spent 8 days in the hospital fighting a nasty virus over Halloween). And although the nurses & staff came by her hospital room to trick or treat, I'm actually looking forward to sweating & fighting bugs on Halloween night this year. It's the little things 😉 Thank You as always for keeping McKinley in your thoughts & prayers.

xoxox,
