Shaping the Region’s Leaders LEADERSHIP LACKAWANNA KICKS OFF 35 TH ANNIVERSARY With an alumni base of more than 2,000 people, the name “Leadership Lackawanna” has become synonymous with high-caliber professional- level leadership in northeastern Pennsylvania. This year, the organization is kicking off its 35th anniversary by recognizing those who helped mold the organization into what it is today. “Thirty five years ago, Leadership Lackawanna was launched to create a new generation of community leaders, in the hopes of providing more volunteers for community organizations, social service agencies and civic groups,” said Nicole Morristell, director, Leadership Lackawanna. “Today we have more than 2,000 alumni and have completed more than 145 community service projects. Our alumni represent our past, present, and future. It’s a proven fact they carry the legacy of Leadership Lackawanna into cities and towns around the world.” “...Today we have more than 2,000 alumni and have completed more than 145 community service projects...” At its recent 35th anniversary celebration, held at the Slocum Hollow Bar and Restaurant at Montage Mountain, Leadership Lackawanna recognized the Reinheimer family for its help in forming the organization in its early years. Also recognized were former board member Lisa Hall Zielinski of The University of Scranton Small Business Development Center for her assistance in creating the program’s current curriculum and session structure and former board member John A. Kramer Jr. of Gertrude Hawk Chocolates for his work with the organization’s 25th anniversary celebration and his activity with the former Leadership Lackawanna Alumni Council.
