We will recognize a good friend and great volunteer --David Hawk of Gertrude Hawk Chocolates -- at the Chamber ’ s 149th Annual Dinner on Wednesday , March 29 . This recognition comes as David finishes his tenure as president of Lackawanna Industrial Fund Enterprises ( LIFE ).

LIFE was formed in 1950 to raise funds for industrial development . The monies raised through two LIFE campaigns continue to be invested in economic development to this day , supporting our mission to attract , sustain and grow jobs .

Elected LIFE president in 2005 , David served in that capacity until September 22 , 2016 . The Chamber by-laws specify that the president of LIFE be an ex-officio director of the Chamber and David served on both the Chamber Board and Executive Committee during his time as LIFE president . He was also a member of the board of Scranton Lackawanna Industrial Building Company ( SLIBCO ), for 16 years and chaired the Chamber Board of Directors from 2003-2005 .

David Hawk is the kind of volunteer who gives unselfishly of his time and resources . His word is his bond and he does not take commitment lightly . David ’ s wise counsel helped us to keep LIFE on track during times of economic uncertainty .
