Karen Murphy, RN, PhD, Secretary
of Health in Pennsylvania, has been
named Executive Vice President,
Chief Innovation Officer and Founding
Director of the Steele Institute for
Healthcare Innovation at Geisinger.
Prior to becoming Secretary of Health,
Dr. Murphy served as Director of the State Innovation
Models Initiative, an investment designed to accelerate
health care innovation across the United States. She
previously served in various administrative roles including
President and Chief Executive Officer of the Moses Taylor
Health Care System in Scranton, as well as founder and
Chief Executive Officer of Physicians Health Alliance, Inc.
Secretary Murphy earned her Doctor of Philosophy in
Business Administration from the Temple University Fox
School of Business, Master of Business Administration from
Marywood University, Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts
from the University of Scranton, and a diploma in nursing
from the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing.
Diedra Amendola McCafferty,
D.O., has recently joined Geisinger
Community Medical Center (GCMC) as
a wound care specialist. Dr. McCafferty
will see patients in GCMC’s Center for
Wound Care and Hyberbaric Medicine.
Board certified in family medicine, Dr.
McCafferty treats patients with chronic wounds associated
with infection, poor blood circulation, vascular disease,
diabetes and other medical conditions that make wounds
more challenging to heal. She holds special training in
hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a treatment option which
delivers high doses of oxygen to damaged tissue in order
to optimize healing. Dr. McCafferty earned her medical
degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic
Medicine. She then completed a family medicine residency
at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida.
Prior to joining GCMC’s wound care team, Dr. McCafferty
served as medical director of the Wound Care Center at
Nazareth Hospital, Philadelphia.

Nicole Costanzo recently
joined PNC’s corporate
banking team as a vice
president in the Scranton
location. She is a graduate
of the University of Scranton, where she earned
a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics.
Costanzo is a board member of SIDCO and sits
on the allocations committee for the United
Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties.

Robert J. Mancuso was recently promoted to
executive vice president and chief operating
officer at Wayne Bank. He most recently held
the title of executive vice president and chief
information officer, providing leadership of
bank operations, information technology,
branch administration, marketing, project management, security,
procurement, insurance risk, and facilities management. He has
served the banking industry in various executive leadership roles
for more than three decades.
