POCONO TRANSPORTATION INC. Covington Township www.poconotransportation.com For Aaron Sepkowski of Pocono Transportation, the best way to serve the community is by keeping others safe. Established in 1936, the business has evolved from providing bus service to North Pocono area children to include group and party transportation and is even a certifi ed NAPA car care center, assisting customers with general repair and maintenance needs. With an ever-expanding fl eet, Pocono Transportation continues to grow in its eighth decade. What kind of services do you provide? How does your business seek to benefi t the local community? We provide pupil transportation for schools throughout northeastern Pennsylvania as well as group and party type transportation such as airports, wedding shuttles, stadiums, casinos, organized day trips and bachelor or bachelorette parties, to name a few. We try to educate students, parents and the general public on school bus safety during community events. Our staff is urged to get involved in community affairs, such as volunteering with local EMS or fire companies, or helping out with youth sporting events such as tee ball, baseball, football or basketball. Pocono Transportation is associated with the Pennsylvania School Bus Association, which is a statewide safety and advisory board. What is the greatest challenge that school bus drivers face today? Regulation. A school bus driver must complete a number of background checks, ongoing training and yearly medical checks. One might think the students are an issue, but that is not the case. Keeping up with ever-changing regulations is a real challenge for a driver. We as a company try to ease this burden with tracking all deadlines, paying for all training and updating our drivers on changing regulations monthly through a safety committee. 4 • The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce Owning your own business is not always a cake walk, with long hours and the ongoing thirst to outperform your competition.
