November 23rd is just around the corner, and we know the drill very well. We share the holiday in good company over a tasty meal—usually turkey, stuffing, and potatoes involved. Oftentimes, we leave out the giving thanks part of it all. Have you thought about how to show your appreciation for someone you love, care about, or maybe even a stranger? Studies show that a little appreciation can go a long way! Gifts, probably the most common form of appreciation, are completely acceptable! It can be something small and memorable. Perhaps you recall an item they really wanted, or a hobby they’ve been meaning to pursue. For example, if your friend would like to start painting, get them a set of art supplies! Think simple (and less gift wrapping) by thanking them with a gift card to their favorite store or restaurant. Express your gratitude in writing. Kind words can have a lasting effect and even make someone’s day! Even if you’re not great with words, you can find a card that says just the right things at most grocery stores or pharmacies. Write a big “thank you” on your receipt after you tip your servers, or just a few kind words! Be grateful by giving your time. Time is so precious to us these days and can be more meaningful than a gift sometimes. Make time to help others if you know they’re in need. Spend your time in fellowship with friends or loved ones. Be it cooking, playing board games, or watching movies together, there is nothing like spending some quality time with people you care about. 25 MOMENTUM / November 2017 By: Rachel Hernandez  Avenida Brazil [email protected]  If you’re nowhere near the people you care about, there are several delivery services at your disposal to express thankfulness. Send flowers, desserts, or even have a thoughtful present delivered. You can even deliver an experience, such as tickets to a sporting event, or a gift certificate to a local restaurant, without having to be physically present! Veterans Day is around the corner, too! Volunteer at a veteran services organization. It’s another great way to thank our men and women in uniform. If you’re lacking creativity, there are several resources online, as well. Don’t let your lack of ideas stop you from thanking that special person. It’s what Thanksgiving is all about!
