PLAN THE PERFECT HOLIDAY PARTY ‘Tis the season of giving! The holidays are just around the corner! Your staff has gone above and beyond—exceeded your expectations. Have you thought about rewarding them somehow? Maybe you’ve made new friends that you consider family and would like to host a fun Thanksgiving dinner this year. Something unique and unforgettable. How about a lunch or dinner at a fine dining establishment with a comfortable atmosphere? Or a cocktail party with a murder mystery game? Whether you are hosting Friendsgiving at home or Christmas dinner at a dining establishment, there are several things to keep in mind to host the perfect holiday party for your friends, family, or office staff. 1) Should I stay or should I go? Are you thinking of hosting a New Year’s cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres? Would you rather dress up, go out for a nice dinner, and forget about the stresses of planning? Or would you like to host a potluck at home, which may require a little bit more time and effort? It’s important to realistically consider how much time and effort you will be able to dedicate when establishing the kind of party you would like to host. 2) Set the mood There’s nothing to set the mood like music. Whether it’s a custom playlist or a string quartet, make sure you bring in the right tunes to liven up the party and create the right atmosphere. If you decide to have a musician or band, make sure you start thinking about booking them now because the holiday season can be a busy time of year for them. 25 MOMENTUM / October 2017 By: Rachel Hernandez  Avenida Brazil [email protected]  3) Deck the Halls Expect the dinner table to be filled with food and dishes. For table decorations think low and small centerpieces. For example, you wouldn’t want tall candles on the table that can spill onto the potatoes as you’re passing the salt. Wall decor, wreaths, string lights, and scented candles around the room are a great way to deck out your holiday party. 4) Keep Your Guests Jolly You’ve done a great job! The food was delicious, but how about a game to entertain your guests? You can hire a murder mystery troupe or a caricature artist. Or if you would rather bring out the traditional board or card games, make sure you do it with a holiday twist! Incorporate gift giving, or some holiday singing. There is nothing like coming together with friends, family, and co-workers during the holiday season. Avoid last minute plans, and get a head start on the perfect party now. You will thank yourself later!
