It is a time of restoration . Our community will need great leaders to help our families and our community get back and stay on track of growth and renewal .
Sure , we are healing after a devastating natural disaster .
Ask yourself these questions . Have I taken time to reflect ? Have I slowed down to restore my body , my mind , my spirit ?
Good leaders are intuitive , they get to know their team , and they learn their needs . Great leaders get to know themselves , they meet their own needs and they listen when the body and mind needs to be restored . They understand that in order to be there for others , they must be whole .
So when the peak of the crisis is over , one must ask , “ How can I help to continue to heal my community , my team , and even myself ?”
Everyday we drive in our community ; we are still faced with the destruction of the hurricane in piles of debris and broken faces . But just as riveting , every day there are pictures of healing , repair and sounds of normalcy .
Are you back to normal ? Are you better than normal ? What really is normal ?
You can only shine hope when you are restored and hopeful .
Leaders need to be patient with those who have been hurt and they also need to remain active in restoring their team . As time passes , leaders need to fill the emptiness with hope for a better tomorrow . Sometimes during our restoration , we must say no to those things that are not on our highest priority .
Now is the prefect time to practice saying “ No ”. “ No , not able to do that right now ”, you see , ….. I ’ m restoring myself .”
Think about what allows you to feel restored ? A manicure , a baby ’ s smile , a mother ’ s hug ? How does one fill their tank when it ’ s on empty ? We all know that going on empty is not good . Figure out what restores you and take the time to just do it .
When you are repaired , you will think clearer and make better decisions . Restoration will allow you to be your best so that you can influence others positively and encourage them in steps of hope . Connect with someone you know and assure them you are being restored and encourage them to do the same .
Great leaders are the link to the impossible and can be the bridge of restoration and strength . Leaders restore and repair themselves when the time comes . When peak of the crisis is over , it is time for leaders to renew . That ’ s what they do .
As a leader be sure that you take the time to renew your own spirit so you can get back to where you want to be . Today , slow down , take a few deep breaths , and know you are okay . Remember that you can lead yourself and others to greater successes than ever known with the right foundation .
