SOAR

Soar refers to our native birds that are considered to be messengers from the Spirit World . Our Tribal spirit soars as strong and free as these winged beings . Grey represents the feathers of the Eastern Whippoorwill , whose enchanting song fills the region ’ s forests .

ASCEND

Ascend refers to our history of rising up in the face of adversity . This is symbolized by yellow , the color of corn , our most important crop , reaching to the sky .

LEAP

Leap represents Uncas ’ s leap across Yantic Falls , which was a testament to his power and courage as a Sachem . Blue symbolizes the powerful waters that give us life and test our fortitude .

IGNITE

Ignite refers to the formation of the Mohegan Tribe while early art forms , such as beadwork and painting , recall this period . Deep purple represents the violets of spring , a season of rebirth .

CORE

Core refers to Mother Earth . She is central to our Tribal culture , a source of strength , the point of our beginnings . Orange symbolizes the autumn leaves that carpet Mother Earth at the beginning of the hunting season , a time that provides us with nourishment that is a source of our vitality .
