New Tango Music Plaza Francia: A New Tango Song Book Arndt Büssing Plaza Francia can be seen as the legitimate successors of Gotan Project, with Argentine Eduardo Makaroff (guitars) and Swiss-born Christoph H. Müller (piano, synthesizer & programming) as composers and producers, and French actress-singer Catherine Ringer of the avantgard-rock-pop project Les Rita Mitsouko as the interpreter of their songs. Gotan Project (with Katalan singer Cristina Vilallonga) left a deep impression with their influential release, La Revancha del Tango. When they split it up, it was difficult to fill this gap. In 2014, Müller & Makaroff published their new songs. a beautiful mélange of tango, French pop songs and other ingredients. Surprisingly, they are still highly relevant for the contemporary tango music scene. Their music is fascinating and grooving, with good progressions and catchy melodies. The trio is supported by musicians, such as Gilberto Pereyra & Facundo Torres (bandoneon), Romain Lécuyer (double bass), Gustavo Beytelmann (piano), Earl Harvin (drums), and others.They have clearly left their former electro tango approach.
