ICON Motosports PDX 2 Waterproof Jacket and Pants Save it for a Rainy Day April showers bring May fl owers, but in New Zealand, rain is possible at any me of the year. In fact, it’s not just possible, it’s inevitable. I had the opportunity to experience this phenomenon myself in February (Kiwi summer) while traveling on a GSX-S750. They don’t call New Zealand “the land of the long white cloud” for nothing! A er riding for nearly 12 years and clocking over 50,000 cross-country miles, I tend to be skep cal of the term “waterproof” (as many of us are, and for good reason). I’ve had some extremely unsa sfying experiences riding through summer storms in Florida, South Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado, and winter storms in Kentucky, New Mexico and California. Let’s make one thing clear: I do not enjoy riding in the cold and/or rain and/or snow. Some mes, it is unavoidable, and once in a while, it turns out to be awesome. In those moments, I fi nd that it’s the comfort level that makes all the diff erence. So, for me, only the best weatherproof gear will do. To get a sense of the rigors I put this jacket/pants combo through, just keep in mind that I lived and traveled on 30 a motorcycle, 5000 kilometers to be exact-ish, over the course of 30 days. Halfway through my journey, I found myself smack dab in the middle of Cyclone Gita. I rode through all types of terrain in all types of weather, including torren al rain, wind and low temperatures (yes, even in summer.) The gear saw it all and took everything NZ could throw at it. When it comes to the waterproof ICON PD X2 Jacket and Bib, you’ll get nothing less than fi ve stars and a 100 percent recommenda on from me.
