Important   to   me,   kissing   up   is   n o t .   I f   y o u   h a v e   b e e n   published,   and   loved   the   arOcle  or  photos,  let  me  know.     If   you   hated   it,   let   me   know,   and   tell   me   why.   I   a p p r e c i a t e   p r a i s e   a n d   criOques.     I   generally   try   to   avoid   publishing   the   same   models,   but   in   PaKy’s   case,   fortune  favors  the  brave.    PaKy  followed  up  her   iniOal   submissions   with   a   second   round,   featuring   clothing   from   local   designers.   This   catches   my   aKenOon   because   when   I   see   models   actually   doing   things   to   move   t h e i r   m o d e l i n g   c a r e e r s   forward,  it  is  exciOng!    By  mid-‐January,  most   models   are   halfway   through   breaking   their   New   Year’s   resoluOons.   Instead,   PaKy   could  headline  the  start  of  her   year   by   wriOng   something   like,   “I   started   the   year   off   by   g e q n g   P h o t o g r a p h e r   G .   Gregory   Gieger   and   Studio   95   Photographix   and   Hat   Palace   f e a t u r e d   i n   a   n a O o n a l   magazine!   Not   a   bad   start,   if   you  ask  me.     Of   course,   even   though   this   worked   for   PaKy,   the   golden   rule   of   dealing   with   agents   and   publicaOons,   is   that,   of   course,   there   really   is   no   golden   rule.   This   is   your   year  to  be  brave,  be  bold,  and   really  go  for  it!      Even  if  the  agency  or   p u b l i c a O o n   h a s   s t r i c t   s t a n d a r d s ,   a n d   y o u r   submission   does   not   comply,   they  will  find  a  way  to  contact   you  if  they  want  to  reach  you.     And   PaKy,   if   you   are   ever  at  the  MysOc  Seaport,  see   a  man  with  a  camera  fWright   Model:  Hailey   ollowing   you,  do  not  be  alarmed!   Photo  ©  218  Photography       Modern Model Page 32
