MODERN ENTREPRENEURSHIP 7 food, shelter, wife, kids, health, friends, work, your business etc. Make a conscious effort to be mindful of this. I’m not just grateful for the good things but also the bad things too (strange as it sounds). You learn so much from the mistakes you make or the bad things that happen. It creates a positive mindset to be happy for the good things and also being mindful to change bad things. 3 Give and you will receive. My favourite saying from Zig Ziglar is, ‘you can have anything you want in this world as long as you help others get what they want’. I’m now 40 and I wish I was taught this in school. We live in a world today that is take, take, take. Not only does it make you feel good, but also it comes back to you in so many ways. 4 Strive to be positive. It’s not always realistic to be positive all the time. Sometimes it takes effort. When something makes me upset, I take that negative thought and screw it up in my mind and throw it away. I fill that space with something that is positive, something like: a picture of my kids and wife, a holiday I’ve been on, a funny night I’ve had out with my mates. It takes practice but after a while you can train your mind to change negative thoughts to positive ones. If you don’t, it’s a downward spiral because negative thoughts produce negative thoughts. Share the love. We often hear more from people who want to complain about things, not what a great job we’re doing. I like saying things like, ‘hey you look great today’ or ‘well done on winning that race’ or ‘have you lost some weight?’ especially when they thought no one was paying attention. What you don’t know is that these responses can create more great feelings for you that can then enhance your thoughts of having a kickass mindset. Life is a never-ending lesson, and I’m still learning at the age of 40. I learn more every day, but these are the steps I follow on a day-to-day basis. When I was younger, I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would have a kickass life and business today. It’s all about mindset. 5 . Focus on the now. If you focus on the past or the future, you aren’t enjoying life and worrying about what you could’ve done or what problems might occur. Both of these things can’t be controlled and you’re just creating stress and anxiety. 6 Seek positive influences. Seeking positive influences or people in your life is paramount to creating a kickass mindset. Associating with the right positive people is one of them. Hanging around with negative people will only bring you down and not encourage you to improve your life.
