MODERN PEOPLE MANAGEMENT sure to hold up your end of the bargain. Hold a high level of ethics and values for yourself. You also need to make it clear to your employees, freelancers, contractors and suppliers that you expect the same of them. Make it clear that lateness isn’t tolerated - for business reasons, and also because that’s just not how things are done with you. Be a person of integrity. Interact with your employees with a sense of purpose, value and integrity. This will really contribute to building trust and respect along with creating positivity and motivation in the workplace. Let Them Know What They’re a Part Of What are your employees helping you to create? Employees at Apple, Google and Facebook aren’t motivated just because of the money. They’re motivated because they believe they’re helping to change the world. They stand for something, and that creates a huge sense of accomplishment. What does your company stand for? How are you impacting or changing the world? Even if you’re selling a basic everyday product, you’re still solving problems for other people. If you work in healthcare, you’re helping others live longer & healthier lives. If you own a café or restaurant, you can take pride in helping people create delicious experiences or celebrate special moments. Stand for the impact you have in the world. Convey this pride to your employees. Let them know that they are part of something great. Be Positive! This sounds simple. And it really, actually IS simple. We all love to work with positive people. Smile and bring optimism to the workplace. Be positive about where your company is, about who you’re working with and about your company’s future prospects. Positivity is infectious. If you’re positive, chances are sooner or later it’ll catch on with your employees…and your customers! Do these few things and your employees’ overall motivation level will skyrocket. So will their loyalty and performance. For more than 20 years Naomi has been creating events for organisations that have helped them stand out from the crowd.
