Therefore the characteristic big hair, potbelly and big eyes are still exactly like Thomas Dam wanted them – but with a mo- dern twist. The first collection, from bySommer included the best- selling bronze, brass and gold trolls. Since then more than 70 different trolls have seen the TROLL IN THE WHITE HOUSE light of day from the hands of bySommer. When you ask Jesper Sommer, he knows exactly which troll is his own favourite: - Thomas Dam was a woodcutter and from the beginning I knew that I wanted to do something in his memory. Meanwhile Dam Things and Thomas Dam’s family told me about their wishes to collect funds to help those battling cancer, just like Thomas did. Therefore we have produced a special wooden troll, where a fixed amount is donated to The Danish Cancer Association, Jesper Som- mer states. THOMAS DAM Charity events The Wooden Troll was the first step to the Goodluck Troll Fundraiser. A charity event, which invited Danish artists and celebrities to express themselves on versions of the Goodluck Troll – of cause while still respecting the old features of the troll. More than 30 trolls have been made for the Goodluck Troll Fundraiser, in a small version sold in interior design stores and one in large version – all collecting funds to help those battling cancer. The 30 big trolls were sold at a dinner auction in august 2017, and thus more than 100.000 Euros were donated to the good cause. Combined with funds from the sale of the small trolls, more than 250.000 Euros have been given to the Danish Cancer Society. The trolls continue to col- lect funds for the good cause, as Jesper Sommer embarks on the next step of the journey: Doing Goodluck Troll Fundraiser events in Sweden and UK.
