Part-Time Optometrist –
Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind is seeking an optometrist on a part-time/consultancy basis to provide comprehensive low vision evaluations and services to a diverse client base. We serve clients referred from state agencies and clients with who self-refer for evaluations.
There are two opportunities available. They both help clients who may have low income or otherwise do not have access to services.
1. Our low vision clinic in downtown Silver Spring. Clinic hours are one day a week (M-F) with some flexibility OR
2. On our mobile eye care unit which travels to community events where the practitioner conducts evaluations for needy clients. (Some weekend events.)
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of low vision devices and common ocular pathologies. Experience with vision loss, stroke and/or traumatic brain injury patients a plus.
Doctorate of Optometry degree from an accredited institution required, plus required licensure. Two to four years of experience with clinical low vision care including pediatrics and binocular vision preferred.
