What is your earliest memory of an act of positivity....

My parents were high school music teachers. My mom and dad worked as a team to lead a nationally competitive high school marching band. This meant they spent endless hours creating a show and helping more than 200 teenagers execute that show every season. Most of my earliest memories include my parents believing in teenagers and using positivity to encourage them to be truly excellent musicians.

Why is Positivity as opposed to negativity important to you?

My life experience suggests that positivity brings out the best in people. It encourages people to take risks. Negativity tends to shut down all creative and educated risk taking. When people shut down, they never discover the depth of their capabilities. I have worked as an artist for most of my life. The creative environments in which I feel the most free and the most creative, are the worlds in which I feel I have done my best work. When I feel safe and supported, I feel more connected to my creativity. For me, feeling fulfilled as an actor and a director hinges on finding environments that encourage positivity.
