DEVICES RESEARCH AND INNOVATION FACILITY, THE MICRO + NANOTECHNOLOGY LAB HAS
ENABLED UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS RESEARCHERS TO ADVANCE TECHNOLOGY IN HIGH-SPEED
DATA COMMUNICATIONS, HIGH-EFFICIENCY LIGHTING, SOLAR POWER, FLEXIBLE ELECTRONICS,
AND NOVEL MICROELECTRONICS/PHOTONICS CONCEPTS FOR NEXT-GENERATION COMPUTING
ARCHITECTURES. WITH THE ADDITION OF THE BIO-NANOTECHNOLOGY LAB COMPLEX IN 2007,
OUR RESEARCHERS ARE ALSO MAKING ADVANCES IN BIOMEDICAL IMAGING, BIOMEDICAL
DIAGNOSTICS, AND ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING, WHILE DEVELOPING NEW TOOLS FOR LIFE
SCIENCE RESEARCH.
THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, WE HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE PREMIER BIO- AND NANOTECHNOLOGY
TRAINING SITES FOR YOUNG SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS, PREPARING THEM TO TACKLE NEW
RESEARCH PROBLEMS AND CREATE NOVEL PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES.
