NEW BOARD OF DIRECTORS ANNOUNCEMENT Introducing Rodney Gilmore The MMRF is pleased to announce the addition of Rodney Gilmore to our board of directors. Mr. Gilmore first connected with the MMRF after his own myeloma diagnosis, when he set about learning as much as he could about his disease, putting him on the path to treatment for himself and patient advocacy for others. “I owe everything with regard to my treatment to Kathy Giusti and the MMRF. They made a real difference for me, so I am incredibly humbled to be in a position to help other patients now,” he says. 10 A 1982 Stanford University graduate, Mr. Gilmore has a law degree from the University of California at Berkeley and practices law at Doty, Barlow, Britt & Thieman LLP. He’s a college football analyst at ESPN and currently works on the ESPN/ABC Saturday telecast, as well as on College Football Live, Outside the Lines, and SportsCenter. Mr. Gilmore lives in the Bay Area with his wife, Marie, and has two adult children, Anthony and Nicole. Mr. Gilmore can’t wait to get started at the MMRF. “I get a lot of joy being a part of a team,” he continued. “From team sports to kicking around ideas with colleagues, there is nothing more impactful than the collective approach and enjoyment that makes the work meaningful and worthwhile. I am very much looking forward to coming on board.” MMRF CANCER FIGHTER TEAM MEMBERS WORKING TOWARD A CURE EVERY DAY Val Geisler MARKETING MANAGER Communicating our message is critical to doing our work. Whether that communication is through social media posts or fundraising packages or events, Val Geisler has had her hands on it. After a career spent at marketing agencies, Val has turned her expertise to helping the MMRF change and extend the lives of our patients. “The first time I attended a 5K race, I was so inspired by the patients, their friends and families, and the community that morning, I could barely speak. What we do is really making a difference. I have no doubt that we will find a cure for multiple myeloma and many other cancers.” When she’s not on the road at an MMRF event, Val loves to cook, hike, and spend time with her family, friends and her dog, Stella.
