20 ENTREPRENEUR moms YOU’LL LOVE
“If you can get up and go work for
someone else for 65 years and still
run your household...You definitely
can run your household and build a
legacy for your family, one vision,
one day, one step at a time.”
MMIA: How long did it take you to go from business idea to
actually seeing income?
LUCINDA: I decided to build my business while I was working.
I refused to leave the job unless I was able to hustle and grind to
produce income.
MMIA: How do you balance the roles of mommy and
entrepreneur?
LUCINDA: I have an awesome support team, but this was not
always the case. My family and friends needed to see that I was
serious about this decision and once the wheels started turning,
the support was growing. My husband now sees that this is not
just an expensive hobby but a sustainable business that pays
more than just the bills.
MMIA: How do your children feel about mommy being an
entrepreneur?
LUCINDA: They think I am famous and they love it. They love
the perks of having me home to pick them up from school. The
quality time that I spend with them and the fact that I am not
stressed from a hard days work.
MMIA: Does your husband support you and your business?
LUCINDA: Yes he does. This did not happen over night. He had
to see that I was making money. He seen the passion but it wasn’t
until he seen the profit that he really supported me 100%. I had
him at 60% but when I stopped asking him for money for my big
business ideas he shifted.
MMIA: What advice can you give to the woman who is reading
this right now and thinking there’s no way she can start a business
while running her household?
LUCINDA: I say it’s the only way. We don’t have a choice. If you
can get up and go work for someone else for 65 years and still
run your household...You definitely can run your household and
build a legacy for your family, one vision, one day, one step at
a time. A proverbs 31 woman, takes care of her home and her
ventures. I say pace yourself, take small steps towards the big
goal.
