#MomsinAction Dr. Tonya L. Callender Callender Global, Inc Jacksonville, Florida What's the one thing you wish you knew when you started out? Tonya: That I could NOT fail. I would only LEARN. How do you balance the roles of entrepreneur and mom? Tonya: I believe being a mom, prepared me to be an entrepreneur. As a mom, I learned time management, conflict resolution, discipline and the ability to motivate myself and others. What are your views on moms becoming entrepreneurs? Tonya: I believe moms are graced to be entrepreneurs. We already have the skill set to run a successful business through the skills necessary to be moms. Mary Kathryn Johnson Parent Entrepreneur Power El Dorado Hills, CA What's the one thing you wish you knew when you started out? Mary: I wish I knew that it's actually more expensive in the long run to do everything myself. Hiring experts and investing in a mentor saves my most precious commodity...time! How do you balance the roles of entrepreneur and mom? Mary: Every minute of every day, I make a choice as to what I need to do. When my kids were younger, the amount of work I could get done during the day was greatly reduced. I worked mostly at night, after they were in bed, or during naps. If I had to finish something when they were awake, I had to be creative. We had "Kid Work Time" where my boys sat at their own table in my office, and did "work" (drawing, building, playing with cars or trains). Share one business goal you've reached that you're really proud of. Mary: My #1 goal is to help parents quit their paycheck driven jobs, and create a passive income, or residual income businesses so they can get their kids out of day care, and bring them home into their loving arms! My proudest business goal reached to date was when I helped the first mom do just that. January/February 2015 Subscribe at millionmomsinaction.com | 15
