#MomsinAction Featured Mompreneurs Demetria Zinga Web Success Coaching San Jose, CA What's the one thing you wish you knew when you started out? Demetria: If I had only known how important patience is I wouldn't have made the mistake of biting the bullet on every opportunity that came my way. If I had to do it all over, today I would say "no" more often to the non.essentials, and "yes" to those things that really rock my boat! How do you balance the roles of entrepreneur and mom? Demetria: It's important for me to categorize my roles so that I'm not doing too many things at once. My biggest balancing act requires that I carve out office time each day while my kids are tucked away and happily busied with play time or finishing up schoolwork. When my office hours are done, then it's all about the kids. And when my husband comes home from his office each evening, I try to stay completely unplugged and just focus on family. Share one business goal you've reached that you're really proud of. Demetria: At the end of 2013, after a much-extended break from business, I relaunched my Web Success Strategy coaching program. The relaunch in and of itself was a major breakthrough in my life after a few years' set-back of moving our family cross-country, overcoming financial strain, and becoming situated with a whole new lifestyle on the west coast! Amber Johnson Clique Cosmetics Florence, SC What's the one thing you wish you knew when you started out? Amber: Looking back now I wished I would have additional business training as it is not easy launching a company especially a cosmetic company. How do you balance the roles of entrepreneur and mom? Amber: I typically balance my work and home life by developing a schedule. What are your views on moms becoming entrepreneurs? Amber: I believe being a mother has no bearing on being an entrepreneur and in fact I see a lot of stay at homes becoming successful in many industries.
