MMIA: How is KAM Foundation making a difference? MONIQUE: We work as the solution: Child Abductions and Missing Persons is a BIG problem with a need for strategic solutions. Together, WE can greatly reduce the number of people who go missing in America. Whether a child is “My story opens the eyes of many and shows that all missing children are not dead. I hope my story brings hope to every loved one who searches endlessly for their missing family. Awareness is really the key, but prevention lasts a lifetime.” missing, abducted (by a family member or non-family member), or one of the thousands of runaway kids that society has abandoned, we firmly believe that every missing child (or adult) has a right to be found! We provide assistance and advocacy for the families of the missing or lost and education, search assistance, and support to parents, educators, investigators, social workers, and law enforcement personnel. MMIA: When did you realize you were called to carry out this mission? MONIQUE: When I realized that my identity was always mine. Mine to create a life that was stolen from me. I knew that I had to create a legacy where there is a history for the betterment of my children. During this time....while all of this is going on, I also knew that it's imperative to assist any family living with this heart breaking turmoil. MMIA: How do you balance the multitude of hats you wear? four AWESOME children and I enjoy spending time them. Pictures, scrap-booking, memory-building are a must that's actually a joy for me. I love it!! #Addicted MMIA:What are your plans for this holiday season? MONIQUE: Fla~Laa~Laa!! YES, every holiday our family selects a theme...Nut Cracker, Snowman, reindeers, etc. This year will be special for we'll use cookie recipes and wrapping paper cut-outs to Fa~Laa~Laa the world---minus the singing. I can't carry a note across the street lol. MMIA: What is your favorite holiday memory? MONIQUE: Pictures!! I have collected a full family picture of my children and I with Santa Claus. Even with my oldest SUN serving in the Military. He's found a Santa in other counties, taken a picture and sent it me to crop him in! How is that for Family Tradition?! MMIA: If you were granted 3 wishes, what would they be? MONIQUE: I'd only need one. To be the face and the voice of missing children everywhere. My story opens the eyes of many and shows that all missing children are not dead. I hope my story brings hope to every loved one who searches endlessly for their missing family. Awareness is really the key, but prevention lasts a lifetime. MMIA: What does your next level look like? MONIQUE: My next level is to do something drastic. I’m not going to mention what exactly right now, but it is going to take my story viral. Not for the fame (of course) but for the message behind the story. My year in 2015 will be focused on everything I do currently, but with an extended focus on my kids. MONIQUE: By doing what I can with what I have in my hands. Plain and simple. It’s not rocket science. My time and energy is divided but I don’t over extend myself. I celebrate the fact that I can balance all of these hats despite being a mom of four, owner of a multi-million dollar construction company, as well as the KAM foundation. My children do help me out but I reward them along the way. MMIA: What's one business goal you've reached that you're really proud of? MONIQUE: Landing a $27.7 million contract with the City of Baltimore. That was hard. Really, really hard lol. The contract includes Baltimore city and the surroundings counties and we service the water, sewer, fire hydrants, and sub draining systems. MMIA: What is your favorite w ay to spend "me-time"? MONIQUE: I walk, swim, ride horses and exercise...but motherhood always takes over during my me-time. I have Holiday 2014 Subscribe at millionmomsinaction.com | 8
