Extreme Couponing Don’t Break the Bank! Extreme Couponing Tips for the Holidays by LaTersa Blakely Making your money work for you is an understatement if you are always spending it on groceries. I recall watching an extreme couponing show on TLC about five years ago, and I was all geeked-out and excited that I was going to be keeping most of my money because I had discovered a profound way of getting my groceries at a deep discount. Well, what I didn’t know was there’s a method to the madness. Despite what I thought, it’s not that simple to leave with thousands of dollars’ worth of food for only $2.15. Here are 5 ways to get the most out of your extreme couponing experience this holiday season. 1 Make a list of items you need. This one is a huge one because a lot of people just figure they can go to the store, get what they need, and come home. Well, the truth is that's not going to happen. You either forget something or you come home with stuff you didn't need. 2 Planning is key. Every Sunday, buy the local newspaper and grab the coupons. Clip them and match them up with sales for the week. Review your list of needed items and check it against the available coupons and sales items in your newspaper. 4 Carry your coupons with you at all times. This is a must. You never know when you might run across a killer sale. If you have your binder with you, you can grab that coupon, and save big time. It's a wise thing to keep your binder in your car at all times. Learn how to coupon properly. Join an Extreme Couponing class that teaches you all the ways to get free toiletries, paper towels, or toothpaste. It's a method to the madness for real, but once you get it, you will begin to keep more of your hard earned money in your pockets and use it to do fun stuff with your family. 5 Go for the cheaper price. Instead of you getting the Ritz crackers that are in bulks, try getting the crackers of less volume and use your coupons towards that. This is one of the keys to maximizing your savings. 3 FEATURED CONTRIBUTOR The wife, mother of two and woman of God decided to heed the calling on her life in 2010 after spending years in the corporate world.
