20 mogul moms The stress Manager “There is no feeling like seeing the fruits of your labor benefiting your family and building your legacy instead of someone else’s.” MMIA: When did you decide to become an entrepreneur? MMIA: How do your children feel about mommy being an entrepreneur? CHERE: I have always been an Entrepreneur at heart but after my lifechanging divorce I decided to live my dream and start my own business CHERE: My children are very proud to have a mompreneur. They actually spread the word to others about my business and the services I offer. They even participate in my expos and workshops. MMIA: How long did it take you to go from business idea to actually seeing income? CHERE: It took 2 years to see profit. I used my own money in the beginning to fund my vision and purpose. MMIA: Do you ever regret your decision to become a full-time entrepreneur? CHERE: No. There is no feeling like seeing the fruits of your labor benefiting your family and building your legacy instead of someone else’s. MMIA: How do you balance the roles of mommy and entrepreneur? CHERE: It is not easy by any means, however, when you are passionate and serious about something you make time for it. I love my children and I love my business so I have to have balance. There are no do overs when it comes to raising your children. I want them excited about my business so include them in business plans, ideas, and functions. I also take time off to spend quality time with my children. If I worked for someone else I would get vacation time and clock out at the end of the day so the same is true when you run your own business. Have start and stop days and hours for your business. MMIA: Take us through a typical day in your life. CHERE: • Wake my youngest son up for school and see him off • Get showered and dressed for the day • Eat breakfast which helps to get those creative juices flowing • Check emails and voicemail messages • Check my schedule/calendar for appointments, calls, etc. and follow that schedule. Lunch is even scheduled in. Must take care of your mind and body. • Mark off tasks as they are completed • Check my schedule for the next day • Sit with my son to discuss his day • Cook dinner and eat. • Relax with a movie or music until I fall asleep MMIA: What’s your advice to working moms who are on the fence about becoming an entrepreneur? CHERE: Go for it. Entrepreneurship gives you the freedom to be the mom you want to be. You don’t have to worry about a boss to tell you when you can be there for your family. You are also leaving behind a legacy for your kids. Chere Cofield Twitter & Instagram: @cherecofieldint August /September 2014 Subscribe at mmiamagazine.com | 35
