TRADE MISSION
TO ARAB HEALTH 2017
The Department for International Trade (DIT) has
organised a Northern Powerhouse trade mission
to Arab Health 2017, the largest healthcare
exhibition in the Middle East, to give healthcare
companies the chance to access the massive
opportunities the region offers.
AFRICAN MARKET BOOMS
With expenditure on healthcare set to double over the next 10 years,
the opportunities offered by markets across Sub-Saharan Africa are
significant.
A chronic shortage of local manufacture has led to a heavy reliance on
imports with UK companies well positioned to meet this growing demand
for healthcare products, systems and services.
Africa Health, held in Johannesburg annually, is the largest healthcare
exhibition in the region bringing together high-level distributors, agents,
end-users and decision makers to identify solutions for their markets. In
2017 the show will run from 7th - 9th June and exhibition spaces on the
Medilink UK Pavilion are available now.
The Mission welcomes both first time and
experienced exporters, bringing together
healthcare and trade professionals to meet
customers, learn about innovative technologies
and create partnerships.
This year’s event will take place from 29 January–
2 February 2017 at the Dubai International
Convention and Exhibition Centre in Dubai, UAE,
and is free of charge for UK companies, excluding
flights and accommodation.
The Medilink UK Pavilion at the show is an ideal opportunity for UK
companies to meet new customers from across Sub-Saharan Africa and
expand their business quickly and cost-effectively.
The event will give healthcare companies the
chance to enhance their worldwide visibility and
gain access to the UAE healthcare market, which
is set for significant growth with a large hospital
programme investment designed to turn the
country into the leading medical tourism hub in
the Gulf.

COLLABOR8 CHINA MISSION
Medilink and the Department for International Trade (DIT) held a
successful “Collabor8 China” Partnering Mission in March this year –
which was part of a Northern Powerhouse scheme involving a number
of events designed to help health technology companies across the
region to drive international business.
The Mission saw over 100 delegates attending its conference and 29 one
to one meetings between UK and Chinese delegates. The event gave
companies the opportunity to strike up new partnerships, network and
explore the growing opportunities for the medical and healthcare sector
in China.
The meeting also provided exciting new opportunities for ‘First Time
Exporters’, with eight of the twelve UK companies receiving support to
initiate business for the first time in a foreign market.
Close relationships were built with organisations in Nanjing and
Changzhou (Jiangsu) and most of the UK delegates confirmed they intend
to visit China again to follow through on potential collaborations and
continue the business initiated in the mission.
