MLP Spring Education Wrap-Up Dinner meetings are very popular with MLP members. At these events, not only do you learn about the latest industry informa- tion and earn CEU credit, but you also have an opportunity to network with like-minded professionals. What you learn from each other can make you more efficient and successful. The number of attendees at these events continues to rise; it’s a testament to the value of the overall experience. MLP recently wrapped up its spring education programs. On March 21, the presentation topic was, “Gardens Within Reach: A Value-Added Enhancement.” The speaker was Joann Vieira, Horticulture Director at Tower Hill Botanic Garden. Joann explained how landscape professionals can expand their service offerings with accessible garden design/build. Gardening is the most popular hobby in the United States, and people of all ages and abilities are participating. This presentation demonstrated principles and techniques for accessible garden design to add value and enhance enjoyment for all. On April 18, the educational topic was, “Modern Irrigation Strategies” with Kyle McNerney, founder and owner of Smart Water Management. Kyle covered the latest advancements in irrigation technology including smart controllers, what works best in what settings, and ways to avoid hidden costs. He dis- cussed strategies for helping your customers preserve their landscape and water, while saving money over time.
