SEXUALITY & YOU

This isn ’ t about sex . This is about the autonomy of my body , my choice , my life – and , choosing how it is I want to live in it . in all of its glory , censors the way women ’ s bodies are not only portrayed , exercised , and valued , but how we are allowed to exist . Here ’ s a fact : when bodies are regularly seen in non-sexual situations , they become less sexualized . So , who is keeping my nipples hostage ? You are . Every time we choose to slut shame a woman for what she is wearing , every time we convey that modesty is somehow better than exposure , (* neither is better than the other by the by . It ’ s not a case of either or , it ’ s a case of dual existence ), every time we ask a woman who is breast feeding her child to cover up in public , every time we allow a pop-tart to flash her vag as a PR stunt to increase the sales of her album , every time we tell a young girl in high school that she needs to wear a sweater in school because her tank top straps are distracting for boys ’ learning , every time I ’ m at the beach and I can ’ t be topless without having an officer tell me it ’ s indecent , every time a parent tries to get in the shower with their child and bathe naked , and every time another young woman starves and harms herself in attempt to attain an unrealistic standard of beauty – my nipples , my body , my womanhood are being held hostage and misappropriated by the patriarchy that has brain washed us all into fear .
