GREY AREA It’s not always so black & white, The hardest thing to do is not getting hit, not being verbally abused it’s trying to leave. Trying to leave someone you’ve given your heart to, mind, body and life to. Especially when there is so much grey area. It’s very hard for family and friends to understand why someone so smart, funny and articulate would continue to stay in a relationship where there is so much abuse. This is the clincher for the abuser, this gives them complete control because as the victim is trying to escape in due time they are being isolated from family and friends due to lack of understanding and frustration. The worst thing you can do is abandon a person going through this. As hard as it is to watch helplessly it is the best thing you can do for them to help keep them safe . To help them keep records of what they have to endure. It’s painful for the people looking in and they withdraw to self preservate, imagine what the victim is feeling and what they are doing to preserve themself also, something to think about. This is my interpretation through art of the battle one goes through in their mind as they try to leave their abuser. AmyLee Photography 96 MBA | MISSIONBEAUTIFULAUSTRALIA.COM MARCH 2014 97
