Miss Sis Magazine August 2016 Issue | Page 3

From the Publisher There is a song whose lyrics go like this: Summer time and the living is easy. So true, but good things come to an end and Summer, 2016 is quickly approaching memory status. And as the month winds down, some of you will be going back to school, starting a new job and/or moving to a new location. As we look around us, so many things have happened this summer, some new and some not so new. In particular, whether or not we have a relative or knew someone who was the victim of violence, we have all been touched by it, and it has a profound effect on our everyday lives as well as our future. Our hearts and our prayers go out to the families of those victims of unnecessary violence. Now is a good time as any to take stock of your own lives. Start by asking yourselves some questions: What are my attributes? What are some things about myself that I need to work on? What habits do I need to break? Answer these questions, then ask yourself even more pertinent questions: What are my goals? Where do I want to be in five years? What am I doing to get there?
